Hi, we're going to new york for 5 nights. Originally had booked fly drive to California but I was struggling to save the money so I cancelled it (lost deposit!) and booked flights & hotel seperately for NYC. It has only cost £2300 for 4 adults for 5 nights staying 4* on Lexington Ave. I had managed to save that amount already & some spending money before my LBM in Feb. So I basically it's paid for! This will definitely be our last big holiday for ages because of supporting the boys at uni for the next few years!
Most of my debt is from funding expensive holidays over the past 5 years. The reason I'm able to tackle my debts at the moment is due to me not having to save for hols any more. How stupid have i been???! We did have some lovely holidays but i would prefer to be debt free anyday!! Life would be one long holiday!! Oh for the day when my wages are mine!
Anyway, so in 35 days time, we'll be at Heathrow airport waiting for the flight! very exciting!!
I do thinkl it's important to have things to look forward to in life, but clearly need to focus on cheaper , less extravagant projects!!
Take Care. MM
WOW! Sounds fab, you'll have an amazing time. I'd love to go, perhaps next year
Agree, def important to have things to look forward to in life - just at the mo I look more forward to being debt free :rotfl:0 -

Hi,
A first for me, not usually a gambler! Won over £100 at the dogs last night! never been before, what a hoot! had absolutely no idea what we were doing , just picked random numbers and won almost every race. Sadly, some of our friends lost quite a bit, so we ended up cheering them up by buying them few drinks. But at the end of the night we still came home with more than we went out with and had a great time as well!
HAD A GOOD PAY DAY! my virgin cc now has 0 balance!! So now I just have 1 big loan & MBNA. My aim is to get the MBNA paid off by end of September.
Also, got a surprise cheque from derbyshire BS today, only £22 but every little helps!!
Have good day everyone!!missmental stopping being mental & to be debt free by 53 :j

Yes Littlekel, I think I can make over payments on the loan and also hoping to get some PPI back to reduce it as well!!missmental stopping being mental & to be debt free by 53 :j

YAY TO CLEARING VIRGIN :j:T:j Another milestone reached and all that spare money to throw at MBNA now

You're doing amazing MM, you should be so proud of yourself
Hope you are having a good weekend?
Just out of interest are you closing the CC acc as you pay them off or not? I think once I clear my first one I most def will be closing them and just keeping the CC with my current bank for emergencies only, that way I will never ever get in this mess again!!! xx0 -

Hi Choc Addict! thank you! yes, I think I'm doing really well and could actually save more if I spent less!! but you have to live a bit don't you?! Or life would be so boring!!
I really hope i get some PPI back as well that would make huge dent in the loan. I should hear a decision by 24 June.
Haven't cancelled the Virgin CC because will use in NYC to pay for hotel. It's 0% on purchases but will pay it off as soon as we get back home.
Have set myself mini goal of paying MBNA (£2700) off end of Sept. Will have to do all the over time i can get. After September I won't be able to pay anymore then my limit of £800 a month towards debts because I'm giving DS#1 £200 a month when he's a uni!!!
Having a stressful weekend. I've been at work this morning and DH & DS#2 had a big fall out, so I'm stuck playing piggy in the middle!! It seems to have settled down a bit now so hopefully we can have a nice day tomorrow as we're all off!
Wishing you a good weekend too!missmental stopping being mental & to be debt free by 53 :j

Well, things have calmed down in my household but not for long i'm sure. It's very tense here! This is a first for us, we normally all get on so well. And it's my 20th wedding anniversay tomorrow as well!
To get out the house, I popped to town & basically bought a load of crap in Claires, hair slides etc! this was impulsive and purely an emotional buy, money that could have been put towards my MBNA card. will i ever learn??
Here's to peace & quiet!!!missmental stopping being mental & to be debt free by 53 :j

Hi,
Our 20th wedding anniversay this week. Got a lovely necklace from DH and my sister got us a ladybird house. No sign of Ladybirds as yet! Only slugs & ants!
Lots of unwelcome unexpected expenditures this week
My sat nav broke today and i really need one for work. This is going to cost me approx £70 to replace; so annoying!!!
Ordered some new glasses this week too. I've had to have varifocals that are costing £50 more than I'd hoped. Luckily I have some health cover worth £150 so only need to find £68.
I am really ready for my holidays! only 26 days to go.missmental stopping being mental & to be debt free by 53 :j
