SKY bill confusion when taking half price movies

Our usual bill is about £19 for a 3 pack.
I gave into family pressure and agreed to take movies for half price for four months. The full price would be about £35 but we were charged £39.11 this month. I have studied the bill and fnd it very confusing. Can anyone help please? I don't think I can talk to sky customer services until I understand what they have charged for.

  • There are a few things going on here which is why its so complicated looking.
    1. Sky bill you in advance, at the time you added Sky movies (10 December) they had already billed you on the old "3 Pack" to 23 January.

    2. The special offer discount for adding movies is listed as a separate line item

3 The VAT change on 1 January has added even more lines to you bill.

    So:

The RED lines are your new subscription charge since 10 December
The GREEN lines are your special offer discount for taking movies.
The BLUE lines are the credit for the old 3 Pack rate you had already paid on your previous bills.
  • What happens is when you change your package, they refund you back from the day you change(A) to the day you paid up to on your last bill(B). Then they charge you the new package from the day of change to the last bill (B). The difference between A and B is what you pay. Sometimes if you downgrade, you may not pay anything for a month then pay a small amount. All depends on what package you were on, when you downgrade and where in the billing month cycle you do it.

If you want to downgrade, make sure its at least 14 days before the DD is due, as the DD amount is frozen, regardless of the downgrade date.

  • I would like to say I understand the bill now Mark but it is still 15 pounds more than it should be I think.
I have just paid the next bill and that is straight forward. 28 pounds is what I would expect not 39 pounds.
Previous bills were 19 without movies.

  • Sorry I think I was a bit slow on the uptake.
    I had paid in advance 24/11 £19.50 and 24/12 £19.85.
This has now been corrected to include half price movies in all of 24/12 bill and part of 24/11 bill.
Thank you both for your replies. I will look forward to a cheaper bill when I downgrade after 4 months.
