Well having a tinkering about, thought I would try for a GUS catalogue, so went through the apply for a catalogue, it came up approved with a £750 limit.
So today thought I would check my Equifax credit file and hells bells what a shocker:eek: There were 7 full credit searches by the Shop direct group, so rang the credit control at GUS and the fella adviser was a bit shocked. He said he would send a form off to Equifax, how can that happen for one catalogue?

:eek:It's funny with the their application process, they approve you for a book and give you a pre approved limit, then when you go to buy, you have to repeat your details again. Initially, they ask for your name,DOB email, address, it then comes back 'you'll received your book within 10 days.
Then you order and it asks more questions, previous address (less than 3 years at my present address) have you a bank account, credit cards.

I hope this adviser does contact Equifax, do you think I should write to Equifax as well?

When you say auto can their systems do it in such duplicate

No they cannot auto perform 7 searches! Someone has manually searched or you've made 7 applications!

The system is designed to stop multiple searches, what I'd suspect is that you've either clicked refresh at the application page or there was some internal system error. This has nothing to do with the CRA until the OC has had a chance to sort it, course you'd not involve them at this stage!

Basically, PSP doesn't have a clue so just guesses stuff!

Thanks NID well I checked my Equifax before and the searches are still on! When I initially made the application, when you go to click to send the application, it came up with 'error'.
What would you advise? contact GUS catalogue again?

Thats what has happened - the error has actually been submitting the application prior to the error page...... so therefore you contact GUS and ask them to rmove 6 searches - they would be super declines anyway cos you'll already have been searched - i.e. it means you fail credit scoring before they do anything!

I'd be sending a message with dates of searches and requesting removal - explaining that you may have clicked submit several times as you kept seeing an error page, which has resulted in multiple applications.... :D
