Ebay postage and packing,

just curiosity really,
i'm selling a few things on ebay at the moment, i like to keep the p&p as low as possible so re-use jiffy bags etc etc,
i'm more than happy to accept things i won like this if the p&p is not too pricey.
my question is
would you prefer re-used / creative (carrier bags etc) packaging, nothing that would enable the item to get damaged tho in return for cheaper p&p
or would you prefer to pay higher p&p for brand new packaging etc?

I'd be happy with recycled stuff as long as it was clean. I've just sent some stuff out today using thick carrier bags turned inside out It saves the buyer & seller money and stuff isn't being thrown in the rubbish.0

I think the answer is to make the buyer feel they have a bargain, but ensure your costs are low.0

Just make sure that your recycled stuff doesn't end up costing more than buying a new jiffy bag. I have bought items thta have come in heavy sacks with lots of pape, sellotape and string which has pushed the item into the next weight band. The same item could have been sent in a simple 10p mailing sack and cut a few vital grammes in weight to get cheaper postage..I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. As a business seller, I only use new materials for sending my items out to customers, but then I can buy it in bulk to reduce the cost per item. I feel it gives a more professional impression using new materials, albeit not quite so eco-friendly. At least my customers can use it again though!
As a private seller, I'd be using recycled packaging, but charging much closer to stamp price if the wrapping didn't cost me anything.
The typical buyer is now much more savvy to P&P costs due to the PR and hype that ebay have built around it. in fairness though, there are hundreds of threads buried in here where people have had an issue with excessive P&P charges.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

Quite honestly being a very keen e-bayer myself I use recycled packaging quite often but I do ensure its A) CLEAN and INTACT C) offers enough protection for the item concerned(so it does not get damaged), and depending on the item ive sold wrap it in some tissue paper or put it in a nice little bag, 9/10 times your buyer would be pleased with your efforts!LOVE isn't finding someone you can live with.
