Central Heating Care from EON - up again!

Hello all. We are with Eon for both electricity and gas and, as with most people, the bills just keep increasing. Now it seems that the boiler/central heating cover is increasing too...and not just once this year either! In January, our insurance went from £12.72 to £13. Not a big leap so I wasn't really too worried, but now they have sent a letter saying it will go up to £16 in March!!! Anyone else had the same letter? Are they going to increase this every two months or what? More importantly, are there any better deals out there?
Reading the small print, a boiler has to be under seven years old in order for it to be replaced if it dies completely, and ours is...well, about 15 years old. £16 suddenly seems quite a big chunk on top of the £75 per month direct debit for gas and electric!

Hi DemiDee,
The increase in January from £12.72 to £13 will have been when the Government reinstated the VAT to its original amount. Therefore you would have been paying £13 when you first took out the plan.
I think all our Central Heating plans have been reviewed recently and may have seen price increases.
This is the same as any service, products and services are reviewed regularly and sometimes changes to price are made.
If you are unhappy with the increase to your plan then I recommend perhaps shopping around for a better offer/deal, or even thinking about whether a Central Heating plan is right for you at this moment in time.

Thanks Brian. I wasn't really worried about the first increase, and especially since, as you have clearly explained, this was due to factors outside Eon's control. However, I just feel that £3 on a £13 policy is quite a large percentage increase..over 20% if I'm correct?0

It is about 20% DemiDee, yes.
Some people like the peace of mind of central heating care plans others don’t.
I guess now is a good time for you to weigh up the pro’s and con’s of having a plan such as this in place and see where you stand.
