Credit Card Help

Wonder if anybody can offer some adivce. My girlfriend has a Virgin Credit Card that she opened about 5 months ago. It was the 0% intrest on balance transfers for 15 months. Just before xmas she bought a TV on the card (didnt realise that the 0% for purchases was only until Feb) then last month she was late paying the bill and was given a late payment fine. Due to this we did lose the 0% intrest on the card but after a quick phone call to virgin they agreed to restore the 0% to balance transfer sum but we still now have to pay intrest on the TV we purchased. Anyway long story short she tried to apply for another Credit Card to do another balance transfer but she is now getting rejected for further Credit Cards.

I was thinking of applying for a credit card myself and getting the balance transfered to that but not sure if that would be possible as the once card is in my girlfriends name and the one would be in mine. Does anyone know if there would be anyway around this?
Thanks to all that post competitions :)

If you take a credit card then it is possible to transfer the debt onto yours as long as the credit limit is large enough but remember that you cannot transfer balance between cards within the same company. Once the debt is transferred then the debt is yours and not your girlfriend....
  • Ive spoken to a representative on the phone with Santander and he said he didnt think I would be allowed to do a balance transfer from my girlfriends card to a card in my name as I would have to be the Primary account holder on both Credit Cards in order to do a balance transfer? He didnt seem like he knew for sure but I dint really want to go through on the application until I knew for sure. Does anybody know for sure if its possible to do a balance transfer between 2 cards held by 2 different people?

Yes-it is and i have done it many times.Basically they just ask you for the card number. But I would expect from shambolic Shabby not to know.Try Halifax. They give generous limits.
