best card for 18 yr old to apply for?

My daughter wants to buy her car insurance on a 0% purchase card, but has never had a credit card before, hence not much credit history. I am reluctant to let her apply for too many cards as I know it will affect her chances later. So where is best for her to apply?

her own bank lloyds has said they would give her a card in a few months, so i am thinking there should be a reasonable card out there now?

Thanks
Paula.
ps I have no worries about her getting into debt / not paying etc.

She won't get a 0% card. She'll be lucky to get a sub-prime card which is around 40% APR and will have a low limit.

Also, on £100 a week, no main stream credit card company will touch her, including her own bank Lloyds TSB.

I doubt she'll get any card at all even sub-prime let alone with her own bank on that income

You pay for her. She pays you back.

    Easier said than done though...

(and obviously if you have the money!)

Can she not just pay by monthly direct debit? It seems pointless getting a credit card which she is unlikely to be able to pay off within the interest free period.

I earn ~£100-£160 per week and Lloyds gave me a card, with 0% for 6 months with 1k limit on my 18th birthday.
