Security breach MBNA

I've had a letter from MBNA last week (Feb 9) saying I may be a security breach victim (I know this has been mentioned before) BUT they don't want me to contact them about it (the letter says DON'T)- and they are issuing a new card. There are no details as to what I may have been a victim of so I don't know how much, if any, of my details are at risk. Has anyone got any more info?

Comments

  • I had that the other month with my FlyBe card - no details and I never even noticed anything. The replacement card that came was suspicious - looked like someone had opened it to take down the card number/CCV etc and were waiting for me to activate it! So I cancelled it again.
  • Mmmmm - that fills me with confidence! It would be nice if MBNA would let us know what the level of risk is and what may have happened to potentially breach my security.
  • It usually means that your card number has turned up on a list somewhere, maybe after an arrest or following intellegence received - something like that. You won't get any further information, but make sure that all transactions on your statements over the next couple of months are genuine.
  • Thanks for that - I will keep a very close eye on my statements for a few months and hope nothing shows up.
