Hiya,
First time selling on ebay and want to sell a fcuk winter coat. Its fur(faux) lined inside and full length and therefore quite heavy, but I dont have access to any scales. Is there anyway I can safely estimate the delivery cost (think I want recorder delivery or similar as its french connection) without taking it to a post office to check?
Thanks!!

If you have some scales to weigh yourself then you can weigh yourself first and then pick up the coat and weigh yourself again and note the deviation. The go to the royal mail website and check the weight and dimensions of your package.
I would say that from the item you are describing that adding a £7.50 shipping and handling cost is reasonable and pretty accurate. That would cover you up to two Kg recorded first class.
I have sold proffesionally on ebay for many years (mainly clothing) and you just develop a nak in the end for guessing the weight.0 -

Never guess postage thats just asking for trouble. Pack it weigh it and use RM.com for the price then add a wee bit for packaging.
Customers are very funny about postage if they feel you are over charging you will get slammed via DSRs an feedback.0 -
Hi You can also consider this option.
When you have worked out how much it will cost to send the coat add £1 to the total and add how much you are willing to sell the coat for then start your auction at this price and offer free post and packing on it.
For example:
Postage cost £7.50
Plus £1 costs
Minimum for the coat £30.00
Then in this example you would start your auction at £38.50p with free post and packing this way your auction will also appear higher in the search results as well.
By listing this way the customer is getting the coat posted for free so they will never know how much you added to your auction to cover your postage costs so they have no reason to complain about postage costs trust me this can solve a lot of problems later on.0
