Have or know of a room to rent in Guildford/Woking area?

I've got a job in Guildford and need to relocate and am looking for a double room to rent in Guildford or Woking or nearby (within 10 miles, as I have a car) maximum £350pcm. If you have a spare room to rent or know of anyone who does, please post a message back. I'm also interested in any information or advice about the local areas. Thanks! Amy

Thanks, have tried the Guilford Gumtree but to be honest there isn't a huge range of low cost properties to choose from. Thanks for the suggestion though!

try https://www.easyroommate.com (scroll to bottom of the page and click on the UK site - otherwise you're on an american one) or try https://www.letalife.com (or .co.uk)

You'll find something cheap, don't you worry.

    Hi Amy,

I used to live around the area so can answer any questions you might have.

In my opinion Guildford is nicer. If you are young (?) it also has a better nightlife. The town is prettier. However, you might find that Woking is a bit cheaper.

    Have you tried Loot?

I've tried Loot but couldn't find anything. Have signed up to flatmateclick.co.uk and I have got some leads through that. I'm looking at Aldershot at the moment - what do you think? Thanks :)
  • Aldershot will be a lot cheaper. It is probably a bit further driving than from Woking. It is an Army town and so will be cheaper for a reason. In my opinion it is quite rough.

What about Godalming, Milford, West Byfleet? Smaller places, but may be cheaper.

    Hope I havn't confused you.

    Hi,
If you can get the right end of Aldershot, within minutes you could be on the A31 (aka the Hogsback) which leads directly to Guildford. Non rush hour 15/20 minutes at the most. Rush hour maybe a little longer.
Hope that helps. You should find some shares in the Aldershot area, although there are a lot of 1 bedders.
    Cheers

    Amy,
There are new ads for sharers yesterday and today. Some of them seem reasonable.

    This one looks okay http://guildford.gumtree.com/guildford/46/5052746.html.

Keep looking as Gumtree is very good. I've just looked in my local paper and it covers Guildford, Woking and Aldershot. There aren't hundreds, but there are a few. Would you like me to post it to you ? If so, pm me with your address.

    Cheers

    Amy,

Forgot to mention spareroom.co.uk. If you cut and paste this, it seems quite nice. It's £370 but they could be negotiable.

My newspaper does have a few cheaper, but it's quite nice to see a website. Not sure how far you'd be travelling from the point of view of seeing places before you commit to them.
