Got my credit report... advice pls

Hi All,

I paid for a £2 credit report from equifax. Going back 8 years I have only 1 late payment 2 yrs ago. What I am looking for is info on the best credit cards I can go for for bal transfers? I cant see my score on there. I have a card ending on 0% in may and a 0% in april. Can anyone help please?

Thanks
Louise

With a good credit rating like you describe (on electoral register etc) any 0% card would be good http://www.stoozing.com/0fees.php

You won't see a credit score on the statutory report because the experian / equifax credit score is a made up number (which they charge you for). It is not part of your credit history.

Yes the score is determined by the lender. Each lender looks at your credit history (like you are with your £2 report), they look at it along side the information provided on your application form (employment, residential status, income, dependants, etc) and rate you using their own criteria.

All lenders have their own criteria, so there isn't any way of determining which lender will rate you better than another. Their criteria is a closely guarded secret.

The "Score" that you can pay Experian and Equifax is useless, there's no such thing as a one score fits all.

However you seem to have a good repayment history, as long as your debt to income ratio is good you should be able to get a 0% deal from most anyone.

I'd recommend Virgin and Barclaycard - Virgin offer 16 months 0% and Barclaycard 15 months 0%. They also use different credit reference agencies to each other so you can apply for both without either one being able to see that you applied for another card :o

MBNA report to both Experian and Equifax. Barclays only Equifax.

MBNA Search Experian in reference to an INITIAL application, and EQUIFAX in relation to a CREDIT LIMIT increase if you are an existing customer :o

Ergo, if you are applying to both as a new customer, they won't see each other's searches ;)
