Is it possible to get out of an IVA early?

My partner is currently 3 and a half years into an IVA with a company called Shaws.

She recently worked out that with their fee's, and the payment increases, she would be paying back more than the original amount, despite the IVA supposedly reducing the debt.

She has enquired about paying it off early (just sold my house so I have some capital to play with), but Shaws wanted another couple of thousand to arrange the creditors meeting.

Can she approach her creditors directly, and make them settlement offers, and just cut Shaws out of the loop, or is she tied to them and their money grabbing ways through the terms of the IVA?

  • Slightly off your topic, however I am in the process of setting up an IVA with Shaws. They have never mentioned about this to me? Is her IVA for 5 years.

Any answers given to you will be appreciated by me aswell.

    thanks.
