This is the real deal people, as when i was looking a few weeks back these screens really were £437.10 and £472.35!! This is a £110 - £120 saving, and seems like a fantastic deal to me!

Recommend you choose the wide aspect one, and would be *IDEAL* for graphic designers working with the creative suite or video editing! :D

This has the same TFT display as the Philips 200W6CS20 20" TFT.

Which is only £270 inc VAT. from ebuyer. (£262 on oyyy.co.uk)

You are buying the same thing, but swapping Dell support for Phillips support - oh and the comestic change i.e. black for silver + phillips on the front and not dell :)

Read this to find out about manufacturers using other manufacturer's technology: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=221375

Dell uses several people's tech ... this model specifically used phillips.

Yep, very recent model. If you look around you can find other manufacturers that use the same panel. I think one of the Philips use the same panel and (when I last checked) are a fraction cheaper.

Still, the Dell is an excellent monitor, well worth the expense.

    * - damn beat me to it, sorry for the cross post. Thanks for the link too, was just about to spend time hunting it down myself.

and btw, this version was the same TFT panel as the last version. All they did was change the stand.

There is no guarantee the next version will have a new display .. could be just the same as this one.

Haha np wolfman, thought you beat me at first. I notice you read my original thread .
  • greyster - thanks for the info on the Philips. I'm just looking for info on it's compatability with the Mac. All the written specs I've found (on both vendor's and Philips' own site) just mention it being either PC or Windows compatible. I did find one thread on OSX.com where a Mac user had one and it appeared to actually work but there was a question mark over wether it was running at the monitors native resolution and image quality might be suffering.

If anyone can shed any light on this Philips monitor and Mac usage I'd be very grateful :)

I use a 2005 and a 2405 with my G5, no problems at all, plug in the dvi cables and it auto senses the native resolution and away you go.

You will need to spend a bit of time adjusting the colour but once done you're away.

i just bought this screen in the US... with various coupons available online. Carried it back in hand luggage (stand in the case).

    Cost ... $215 delivered.

Still the UK deal above is a good one.

    My 2001FP (20" non-widescreen) orginally cost me £380.
    My 2401FP (24" widescreen) was £590.
