Do you have to tell your insurance company about a parking ticket?

This is probably a silly question but do you have to tell your insurance company if you get a parking ticket? On the leaflet from my insurance company it says under changes to your insurance that you must tell us if any of the following details change before you need cover to start;
- "motoring convictions (including fixed penalty offences) or pending prosecutions, outstanding police enquiries, criminal convictions or charges for a criminal offence"...
- "Convictions - these include all motoring convictions, fixed penalties or disqualificaitons including points and speed camera offences".

Your best option, is to contact your Insurers and see if they feel it is relevant or not. Ask them to ensure that they put notes on the policy, that you have disclosed it.
I say this as if they have added this offence to your licence, then if you ever had need to send a copy of your licence to Insurers, atleast you would have disclosed the info.The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -

Your original post said you had a PCN with no points on the licence.
So I thought you meant that they added this to your licence as an endorseable offence, even if there were no points connected to it.The comments I post are personal opinion. You don't need to tell anyone you got a parking ticket!0

A parking ticket from the council is a civil matter - it isn't criminal so doesn't need to be declared.
Conversely, a ticket from the police would be criminal and would need to be declared.0
