Hi James and welcome to MSE!
So, what are you bringing to the table?Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -

Welcome to the board.
It's only fair we summarise the last few years distilled wisdom, I'm sure others will add to the list.
Here's my top ten replies to get you started:
1) Set up a DD for at least the minimum payment on the card.
2) Be aware that the minimum payment may not be setup on time to meet the minimum payment on the first statement. When you call to activate a card, ask them to change your statement date to "yesterday" to give the DD the maximum time to be put in place.
3) Any company that offers to wipe out your debt is a scam.
4) We don't know what credit limit you'll get on any card.
5) Make the minimum payment on the lowest APR debts and pay as much as you can as often as you can to the highest APR debt.
6) It's covered in Virgin's summary box http://uk.virginmoney.com/virgin/credit-cards-v3/popup/summary.jsp
7) Don't mix balance transfers and spending on the same card
8) Check your credit report. The answer is there, or the lack of history is shown there. Pay the £2 to save yourself hassle.
9) Credit card companies are run to maximise their profits by any means they can get away with.
10) Santander are complete and utter mince at everything they do. Ram bamboo splinters under your nails before you deal with them. It's less painful.
Oh yeah, and for a full list on 0% balance transfers, cashback, 0% purchase cards and other stuff we'll refer you to www.stoozing.com (sponsored and supported by MSE)."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -
