in Credit cards
Hi All, In the process of shuffling some credit card debt to 0% etc. Have an Abbey/ Santander card issued by MBNA. As of 11/01/2010 Abbey/Santander cards are issued by Santander cards not MBNA. Does anyone know if i can now apply for an MBNA card? Any advice appreciated!

You can apply but unlikely to be successful I'm afraid.
2 reasons: firstly even though Santander are no longer issued by MBNA, your card was so they will likely view it as you having an MBNA card. Secondly even if they do view it as now only being Santander with no link to MBNA, you usually need to have not held a card provided by the company you are applying to for 12 - 18 months.
Worth considering as failed CC applications may well show up on your credit report.

Not sure on what you base this reply?
Even if MBNA did still have a record of the account (which they may well not if the card has been migrated to Santander) they are not averse to supplying two or even three cards of different brands to their customers, they do however spread limits across however many cards are held.
Also, failed applications do not 'show up' on your credit files, a search record will be made, the result of which is not shown.
OP: I'd say as long as you haven't been on an application frenzy recently and you have a decent credit file there's no reason you shouldn't apply.
Regards
