I recently sold an item on ebay to an overseas buyer.
he eventually recieved but is saying its not as described as in that it wont fit his car.
in the description i did put the part number of the item (it was a gear knob).
he wants at least half the money refunded or else he will report it to ebay.
where do i stand with this, what could happen?
thanks

Don't do a part refund. If he's got a problem with it, tell him to return it. If he wants to play 'nasty' and contact ebay, they'll tell him the same thing. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

Why would he want to keep it and get a part refund if it doesn't fit his car - he's trying it onThrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End

I agree with Fay, call their bluff. The only option is returning it for a refund or keeping the item. well the buyer has opened a dispute via paypal and paypal have said they have taken the full amoount until the dispute is resolved.
but i have no money in my pappal account although it is linked to my bank account so my questuion is can they take it directly from my account. ive logged into my paypal account and there is no sign of paypal taking the money.
i am expecting some money toi come in so will that then be automatically deducted from that??
secondly they buyer is requesting a partial refund.0 -
Under no circumstances give in to this!!!
State calmly in the dispute notes you are happy to give a refund minus postage if he returns it.
I dont think Paypal take from your bank account but it will be taken from the amount you're expecting to come in.0 -

Even less likely to send it back and even if he did would he be able to track it.
A firm get lost and do your worst ..........and then the neg but start writing a draft clever a reply to that now!0 -
ive replied via the resolution centre in paypal asking him the reasons why he wants a partial refund. to which he has not responded.
paypal says that this case will automatically close on 21st Feb so what happens if a resolution isnt found or he doesnt bother replying before then?
as paypal will take the money so will they automatically give it to him?
do i need to escalate the matter, if so when should i do this??
any info appreciated.
thanks0
