Sniping programs - are they safe?

Having lost a few things I wanted on Ebay lately I have started to install Prospector which I understand is a good sniping program. However it's asking for my ebay login and password which makes me a bit anxious - is it safe to go ahead or should I just uninstall it?
Opinions would be much appreciated please!

They need your ebay log in to actually snipe.
Not heard of that one but I've auctionsniper for ages as I buy a lot from the states and saves me having to stay awake all hours!0 -
I use Bibnip and have never had a problem. But as said above, they can't bid on your behalf without your login details.0
