I can't really think a supermarket would get away with this.

Me neither. I can't see any supermarket deliberately doing this, they would get slaughtered.

    Imagine the next ASDA advert....

"ASDA charge one low price for everybody, unlike Tesco who add extra on if they don't like your email address".

    Or

"Do you know Tesco charge you more than your neighbour for the same items? ASDA don't, we charge everyone the same low price".

It would have millions on the net talking about it, and checking Tesco prices. I reckon it would kill tesco's online business in a week.
  • Just checked mine and my mum's Tesco account. Mine which is on the new design website is showing the brown rice as £1.12 but my mum is on the old design website and the rice is £1.24, both are delivered from the same store.

I'm not sure how Tesco checkout internet shopping but isn't the price you pay the price in store on the day? If this is the case I can't figure out how they can be charging two different prices.

  • We get £1.24 here in Cheshire for easy cook brown rice.

Would I be being too kind to Tesco if I wondered if it was some software glitch or an error in their database somehow? Probably!

The 'con' that annoys me on a regular basis is when buying Napolina chopped tinned tomatoes (which we only do if they are on offer). You have to study the prices carefully - sometimes when there's an offer on individual tin price, it's still cheaper to buy a pack of 4. Conversely, the next time when you think you'll buy a pack of 4, they turn out to be cheaper if you order 4 separate tins!!

Haven't got any new look website when I log in - seems same as usual.

It's £1.24 in Cornwall on an account I've only used for T. direct, never grocery shopping. I might clear my cookies and open a new account or will it check the ISP address as well?

If you really believe this to be true you should be approaching national press ,they can investigate it further and if true it would be a major scoop

Ok i have just signed in with my old account price £1.24 then signed in with an account which tescos have email me to say is now on the new web site and the price is £1.12. same address same picking store

I dont know what the store price is. I guess though if the new web site is cheaper then tescos get away with it and get lots of free press when they report on it. If its the other way round and the old site is more expensive then the store, then well tescon may have a PR nightmare on thier hands

And back again eventually (forgot some passwords etc:D)

It's still £1.24 and I've got the new look Tescos.

    I'm intrigued.
