Co-Op Cashminder Application

Had the application form through the post, as the Student Account got declined... Anyway went into branch with the application form and the lady at the desk didnt put it through, she said it would be "quicker" to do it herself on the system, so a new application...

Turns out it was "stuck at the bureau" when she put it through, she gave me a number and said it was reffered and that I would have to wait and that was that.

Anyway, after reading around a little I saw being reffered for this account seemed quite common, so I rung up the Co-Operative customer services.

Spoke to a really helpful bloke, he told me that she shouldnt have left it at that and that I would of never heard off them again, so he put it through, put me on hold a couple minutes and told me that it came back "successful" and told me to go in branch and get 2 forms of ID certified, then they would post me my accout number, sortcode, and bank card!

Going call in tomorrow and it should hopefully be sorted by next week.
What do you folks reckon?
Do you think the woman in branch would of got no bonus off it and that was why she wasnt bothered?

You should have opened another student account at another bank.

The Cashminder account isn't that good compared to other basic accounts. The card still is an Electron, despite it daying Visa debit. Not the card/bank's fault, it's the retailers failing to update their BIN database.

The cards that used to be Electron on the Cashminder are now registered with VISA as Full Auth VISA, but because the BINs are newly changed a lot of retailers haven't updated them, much akin to the RBS / Natwest VISA debit kerfuffle :o
    Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
  • But, it will work if I go into shops with it wont it lol?
Just like an Electron card used too?

Oh well, to be honest, did VISA ever really need to advertise it was an electronic card in the 1st place by adding "Electron" onto the design?

What does the card look like out of curiosity?
