Unlock Codes 2u is a recommended site on the mobile phone unlocking thread. I found my mobile handset on there and sent a payment but all they've sent is an unlock report telling me how to get it unlocked so I'm no further forward. I would just like to warn people that it looks like you're paying to buy an unlock code but actually you're just paying for the information already provided on this site. It is very misleading and, I feel, deliberately so.

I know you people must feel stupid but I've been ripped off twice by unlockcodes 2u :-( Yes OK I'm the stupid one!!! The first time was April 2009 and I was charged £2.99. Today July 2010 it was £4.69 I had my doubts when I was about to pay but still did it... AGAIN
The first time i guess like many others I went back, read the small print and thought "you idiot" I won't do that again. And did nothing about it... How much money must these people be making?

Anyway this time i went through paypal and raised a dispute saying the order wasn't complete and that no unlock code was issued and I felt it was a scam. Paypal won't get involved unless the dispute cannot be sorted between you and Unlockcodes 2u. They would keep all the information on file and if it couldn't be sorted, then they would get involved.

Well, the following day I received an email from unlockcodes 2u saying I would be getting a refund. I'm guessing that they will refund money to anybody who complains so paypal won't get involved and close them down. The money they keep is from people who don't complain and think "OK I won't fall for that again", just like I did the first time.

In the email I received it stated
"Dear Customer,

Many thanks for contacting Unlock Codes 2u customer services, your feedback is important to us.

As an unlock code was unavailable for your particular model of mobile phone, only an "Unlock Report" was available.

We're sorry to hear that the "Unlock Report" did not meet your expectations.

I am pleased to confirm that this order will be refunded in full.

Thank you for shopping at Unlock Codes 2u.


So reading this, they are accepting that a unlock code should have been received and that one couldn't be found.
Anybody who didn't receive a unlock code must be entitled to your money back.

Don't let it slide, claim it back!!!

I came across these clowns a few weeks ago, I started a Paypal dispute straight away and was refunded within moments.

I put in the dispute that I would contact OFT, Trading Standards etc etc

To say I was angry with their deceptive "service" was an understatement.
