Quick question - end of 0% promo period (MBNA)

Hi all

My 0% offer ends on 1st February, and I've just received the January statement today, which would normally have the minimum repayment taken by DD on 5th of the month and I had intended repaying the full amount by the 31st of Jan.

However, I've just noticed that on the statement is the (now customary) comment about estimated interest on next statement, and it says 0.00. I don't think this is correct as surely the balance still outstanding on the card will start attracting interest from 1st or 2nd of next month? I understand MBNA had a habit of extending the offer deadline, but I thought yhis practice had ended and I was only speaking to MBNA 2 days ago trying to persuade them (unsuccessfully :( ) to give me 0% on another card I have with them, and during that conversation the "specialist" mentioned that the 0% offer on this card was "due to end in February". So I am a little confused

Suppose I'd best ring them again to check the end date, but would be grateful for any comments.

Thanks

Estimated interest figures are calculated based on certain assumptions, one of them being that your interest rate won't change between the current statement and the next. Of course if your 0% period expires part way between two statement then this assumption won't be correct.

    I hope this helps,

Firstly I'd call to check the exact date the deal ends. My deal was a month longer than I expected. :)

Mr Smartsavers deal ended recently and we have been unable to persuade them to renew the 0% deal. He has an £18300.00 credit limit but we have cancelled the card :'( to free up some available credit to take out a new card

MBNA are getting very stringent on renewing deals :'(...I really struggled to renew mine this time around - managed it in the end - but only because they messed up and I had some extra whip to my argument! ;D

    Two ways to check this:

    1) check the date given online for this account - Unfortunately they seem to remove this date when the offer period is in its final month!

    2) call MBNA to confirm [should have asked this when they gave you the offer and written it down!]

My current offer was 'for six months' but on checking they confirmed this meant up until the statement date itself. In your case, therefore, it may indeed be the 5th [due date] or even the 8th [statement]. I found that making a debit card payment [assuming you have the funds] on the working day before the last date should work - so you might be lucky, and be able to make the payment on Mon 7th Feb?

Having cancelled MBNA with a heavy heart as had £18.300 credit limit, I now find it was worth it as Virgin card has been approved with a £18.500 credit limit  :o 8) ;D  ;D Maybe this is the way forward with MBNA cards  ::)
