I make my OH watch TV in the dark to save electricity. It drives him mad."People who "do things" exceed my endurance,
God for a man who solicits insurance..." - Dorothy Parker0 -
Some of these are classed as theft and could get you the sack and/or prosecution you know!

Anyway the only thing I can think of is I once sprinted like a lunatic with shopping bags back to the car-park to avoid paying 70p extra, as it would have clicked onto the next hour in a pay on foot car-park. :rotfl:A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.
Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.
one life, live it!0 -
Reminds me: when I was a student I spent £80 on a new music system, but was too mean to pay for the taxi or bus to get it back to my house. So I staggered, carrying the large and heavy box all the way, putting it down for a rest every ten metres. A normally fifteen minute walk took me over an hour, all to save on a 80p bus fare."People who "do things" exceed my endurance,
God for a man who solicits insurance..." - Dorothy Parker0 -
Lady fuscia - been there myself. I cut my hand on carrier bags not so long ago as i was to tight to get the bus - I think its perfectly acceptable
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I was too skint when I moved into my first flat to get rid of a large wooden wardrobe the previous owners had left in the middle of the lounge (?? - I think that was as far as they had been able to move it, as it was huge and very heavy).
Anyway, I didn't need another wardrobe (especially not in the lounge) but I did need more storage space and a sideboard.... so I turned it on its side, filled it up with old suitcases, and all the useful junk that would usually get put in a loft (the flat didn't have a loft), locked the door with the useful key (so the doors wouldn't flap open), then threw a large piece of material over it to disguise the fact that it was in fact a wardobe on its side. A vase of flowers and a few decorative items on the top and voila! a useful piece of living room furniture.
And do you know, no-one ever asked what it was or commented on my strange piece of furniture - it just became part of the character of the room.
Even more MSE-style, when I eventually moved house I managed to sell it to the next owners as they were short of wardrobes.
Is that tight or just very practical ? I can't decide......

I don't know really, I know that I am now always trying to get the most out of my money. One thing I always do is buy some garlic baguettes and then chop it up into portions of 2 and then freeze it. Then when we want garlic bread I just take out one portion and cook that instead of a whole baguette and it lasts ages! Especially the Tesco Value 2 x baguettes for 89p! My friend did look at me quite bizarrely when she came round for dinner last week and I got out individual portions of garlic bread!!!!

Tight and proud!
I take tea/coffee/shampoo samples from hotels for later use.
I mix cheap washing powder with nice smelling expensive stuff to make it last longer.
I eat as much as I can at work (paid for) lunches so I can have a smaller tea.
I dont drink in rounds when I'm out (I drive alot as well)
And the tightest thing - I've refused to sponsor any of my friends doing the race for life as about 10 are doing it.
Feel am justified as a) am skint and b) friend and I organised an event for charity last year which raised over 3k so have done my bit.0
