Advice re: Home Insurance payout via cash or thru preferred contractor

I have recently had a leak from my boiler resulting in water damage to the room below, to which my insurance company is now sending out a surveyor. Assuming the claim is approved as valid, they are offering 2 options to settle the claim, either with a cash settlement or to provide the services of one of their preferred building contractors.
Can anyone advise of the pitfalls/advantages of either way? Am I likley to get less money in cash?
Thanks for your time.

In that case I would not use their contractors as if they are connected to Saga (Which Acromas are) they will normally use Asprea who have a really really bad reputation.
Do a search of MSE forums for Asprea for many many examples0
