Phones 4 U airtime credit not honoured

I bought a cheap orange PAYG phone via Phones 4 U website back in December that was suppose to have £10 airtime credited to it. I waited 5 working days before ringing them to see what had happened and they told me that they were having problems with orange crediting airtime credit to the phone and that they will be sending me a cheque for £10 within 7-10 working days. That was back on 15th December. I thought I wait a bit with Christmas and the snow that it might have got delayed. A month later, still no cheque.
They mentioned that they had problems with other networks. Has anyone else had problems and what did you do to get your money back?
Should I claim via my credit card company (mastercard) or write a letter threatening trading standards or something like that? Any advice would be appreciated.

all this for £10?
You would actually write a letter to trading standards? If you call there head office, customer services line, they will get that GOGW to you within 14 days, sometimes things get lost and some times things go wrong. When it comes to things like this p4u are one of the best.
Its the staff in the store selling contracts that you have to be scared of, the companies policies and the way it runs forces people to compliantly rip off the customer into something they do not need and they create pointless need to make it look like you need it. I know so many people that lost a lot more than £10 an non have ever writted a complaint letter to the trading standards or tried to get a claim back from the cc companyy.
BTW i read somewhere at mastercard are bad when it comes to you calling and asking for help with transactions over £100, visa are much better and help a lot more.
cheers hope this helps and i didnt mean any offence by saying are you really going to write a letter because i admire what you are doing i wish people chased their rights like you do. I believe that no one should take what is rightfully yours, no matter what it is. It is principle that counts, and i encourage people to do this especially when it comes to cow boy sales consultants in p4u and carphoneware house.
I would prefer to go to vodafone, to there store, get a bad deal then to go to p4u and let a couple of teenagers tell me what is better for me. ''O sir why dont you get a sim only, we will pay for the first month and you know just in case it could be back up minutes and like yeh so sir you could keep it if you find it to be usefull so you dont go over because you should know they charge you 5 million quid after your minutes are finished!''0
