Ash's Debt Free Adventure :)

Hi guys :) I've been lurking on here for a while so thought I'd finally put plans into action!

Im currently trying to get completely debt clear. I have been paying my cards as little as possible in the past, so time to change! Im a full time student so it is gonna be a struggle, but well worth it in the long run. I want to be debt free for leaving Uni (except student loans) and hopefully have the beginnings of a wee sum to get a house and start a family a few years later :)

The first card getting paid off is an HBoS card, with over £700 owing. Getting that one paid off first as its the highest interest. Then a Virgin Card with a £2,740 balance - a bit more daunting for me!

I have an overdraft as well, at over £1000, but due to the studentness that's 0% so not worried about that till after the cards are paid off. (In fact I'm going to request the overdraft be increased and put that towards the card. The less interest the better!)

Anyway, glad to be part of the community here :)

Ash x

Feel like anything is possible now :)
  • Well done.

Two of my children went through Uni and the hardest part was managing the debt levels. Hopefully you will leave with fab qualifications and get a super job that pays really well.

Well, I'm still slaving away and firing as much extra money as possible to clear my cards (although my car is going for it's MOT tomorrow so that's not going to help!)

I decided that I better take my head out of the sand and check my credit report on creditexpert to see where I stand. Got to say it was better than I had expected, only a couple of late payments.

However, all of my credit cards, bank accounts, and credit agreements, are showing twice on my report? Has anyone seen this before? I didn't think it was too much of a problem till I realised that that means my available credit is double what it should be!

    Many thanks x
