Joint Bank Account Problem *help required*

I am in dire need of some advice/guidance with a joint bank account situation and would appreciate any comments that may help.
About 3 years ago i was seeing a girl with 2 young children and everything was fine for about 18months or so. We then decided to save up for a holiday and set up a joint account that I paid a direct debit into and she used as a main bank account. We broke up a little while ago and I have been trying to get her to close the account with me but am having no luck. She refuses to answer the phone, respond to emails and any other form of contact. I have spoken to HSBC who claim they can only send her an account closure form, which i presume keeps going straight into the bin.
As i have online banking, I am able to view the account and can see that only £30 child support goes in on Tuesday and out every Tuesday via an atm near her home. I also know she has another account with another bank that she uses regularly, but keeps this one going just for the child support.
Ontop of this, last year she went into excess of £300 overdrawn (there is no overdraft), which led to the bank calling me for it to be paid as they did not have correct contact details for her. She has a terrible credit record and i'm extremely concerned about my credit in the future if she does this again (which is highly possible).
What can i do to get the account closed? Someone suggested going into the bank and freezing the account but I believe she would just get the £30 re-directed to her other account and leave this one frozen for the sake of it. Is there a way around this that does not need her full co-operation?

Unfortunately you will either have to get joint request to close the account or approach HSBC and ask them to freeze the account due to dispute/breakup. If the a/c if frozen then the at least the a/c cannot be misused.0

I am assuming that the overdraft on this account has been paid off in full, and that there are no pending charges?
If this is the case, then inform HSBC that there is a dispute between the account holders, and that you do not wish for any further transactions to take place on the account. They should freeze the account on your request.
Your credit record will now be linked with hers, through having the joint account. To prevent this from having a negative impact on any applications that you make in the future, contact the three credit reference agencies (Equifax, Experian and Call Credit) and request a disassociation between you and her.0 -
rb10 has given you a spot on answer.
Try to get the bank to freeze the account just before the next child benefit is due to inconvenience her for messing you about.0
