Gingerbread for single dads and mums

Gingerbread is a voluntary organisation that offers free advice on all matters relating to being a single parent. it is free to join and you can start up your own single parent support group/network.

I like the fact that they offer advice and options about holidays which accommodate and cater for single parent families.

I've often recommended Gingerbread to lonely single parents on this board but have no idea whether anyone has ever looked into it. I think it sounds like a marvelous way to make new friendships and compare notes on all sorts of things kid-related.

If anyone on here has joined a local group could you let us know what you think?

My dad joined Gingerbread when my mum left him and it gave him a new lease of life. He made lots of new friends, had a social life (something he never had before) went on holidays and eventually met his current partner.

I've never heard of it and been a single dad for a while, although just started a new relationship.

What a shame i'd never heard of it before and now I have, I have no need for it.

Gingerbread must be keeping a very low profile! I'm almost certain that I first heard of the organisation about 30 years ago at least and I've never been a single parent. Or a parent at all, come to that
