It would never happen and if it did there would be riots in the street, all hell would break loose and there would be a lot of homeless people who would need housing.0

I'm not sure, but to be honest there are vulnerable people out there, and these people need to be helped, however the whole benefits system has turned into a gravy train for the lazy and for slags.
We need a good social housing policy and a good benefits system that genuinely helps people who have fallen temporarily on hard times and not for those who decide to make a career out of it. It wouldn't be that hard to do.0 -

I and my children would be homeless and there would be nothing I could do to stop it as I am unable (not due to any of my own infirmity) to secure employment due to care needs and the pressures that puts on my time.
To put plainly, I would be up the creek without the proverbial paddle!
And I hate that, I really truly hate that I have to rely on benefits to be able to live and threads like this bring it home rather too clearly. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Perhaps the gap between the haves & have nots would have widened, & the "property is theft" idea would really take off, & homeowners would have to barricade themselves in for their own safety, & wouldn't be safe to go out & go to work, resulting in losing their homes...
You really have a bee in the bonnet today eh? Happy new year!
What is really going on, you just gonna keep starting new threads on the same theme until people agree with you? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Hey! Leave the slags alone! They serve a purpose in society!;)It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Yes, you're right. The opening post posed a bit too broad a question. One too difficult to comprehend an answer to; atleast for me.HammerSmashedFace wrote: »I'm not sure, but to be honest there are vulnerable people out there, and these people need to be helped, however the whole benefits system has turned into a gravy train for the lazy and for slags.

I'd like to see housing benefit/social housing to be revoked for those for whom 'going it alone' is well within grasp but for what I view as purely selfish reasons - they'd rather spend their money on fancy cars, nice holidays and other luxuries - choose not to.
For those who genuinely need help, I say give it to them. There's no doubt in my mind they deserve it.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Yeah, great idea. Whilst we're at it, we could also throw all wheelchair users on the floor, those who stand up are frauds! Also if you suspect someone is a witch, throw them in the lake and if they drown they're not a witch, if they float they are a witch and we can burn them at the stake!
You are a clot, i'll defend to the death your right to say it, but you're definately a clot0
