New eBay Seller - Bank Transfers - Safe?

Hi All
Recently started selling some stuff on eBay and so far so good...
However, one of my buyers wishes to pay by bank transfer.
Presumably to do this I need to email them my sort code and account number - I presume this is how it works.
Is this safe? (It is UK only, BTW)
Is there any way someone could syphon funds from my account simply from knowing these two numbers, or would they need some other info?
Regards

It is safe.
It is only the numbers that are on chques anyway.
Yes, he will need account number and sort code.

it's pretty safe,
when things show as BAC on the transfer, it's between banks, so it's difficult to bounce it.
watch out though for someone that offers to pay into your account, they could pay a cheque in, and have it bounce, so make sure, when you get your statement (i check online) that it's a cash payment, not a chequemoney saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

One way to discourage people sneakily paying a cheque into your account instead of setting up a bank transfer payment could be to not tell them who you bank with.
They could probably find out if they wanted to, but it would deter the casual wrong-doer
My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Thank you all for the advice.
I suspected this to be the case, but it's nice to have confirmation from others.
