I wanna actors face makeup (white creme or cake)

I have googled a little and found this store but no pictures and very expensive for such small quantities.

http://www.theactorsstore.co.uk/DBFiles/makeupR.asp

I think I may need a large pot, 60 ml doesn't sound very large to me. I want the sort of thing an actor would use in madame butterfly or a clown would wear.

Edit: I have seen the gimas website and it seems 60ml is the largest pot they do so maybe it does go a long way? Anyone know?

A large tub of white and maybe the other colours can be smaller.

Anyone here know about this stuff? Also do you know what the actors of the old days would have made theirs from, if I can make my own cheaper, I would prefer that.

I don't know if it's the same stuff. Pound land and £ Stretchers are selling face paints. Loads of white available with England in the cup.
You can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.

Face paint is not the same thing. Wig is talking about grease-paint or creme make up which is oil based, not water based like face paint. Really it would be more authentic to use cake than creme. It certainly does go a very long way, and unless you are doing an awful lot of faces you will not need anything near 60ml, but it is an expensive product because it is specialist and has a limited market. It has the advantage that it will not be dissolved by your sweat under stage lights but it is not suitable for children. Products like this give a heavy, artificial look, very different to womens everyday naturalistic makeup or film make up. However, to be viewed from a distance, under strong lights this is what is required since the lights will make you look washed out and will "flatten" your face. Stage makeup is very bold to counter that effect and pick out the features. If you want authenticity Leicher clown white or white grease stick is probably best since their makeup is very traditional. I would suggest it might be better to get Kryolan though. They do a good range of colours in both a grease based (Supracolour) and water soluble glycerine based (Aquacolour) formula. Traditional grease based make-up requires a setting powder and is less comfortable to wear. If you go with a water based face-paint do get a professional quality paint for good opacity and lasting coverage. Kryolan Aquacolour is an excelent theatrical quality paint as is Fardel although that is more suited to complicated, detailed designs. Grimas (which produces grease and water based paints) and Snazaroo are good quality (though not as good as Kryolan) and might be suitable. Face paints sold as toys such as Galt or those available in poundshops are a completely different product. They are completely useless and provide no sort of coverage at all. I turned up this store, www.backstageshop.co.uk which seems very good. they have a broad range and are theatrical specialtists so will be able to answer any queries by email. The prices are expensive but as I say they are selling an expensive, specialist product.
