Empy's Lb & £ busting diary

Hi all:hello: I have finally decided to really take control of my debts and weight:j. Too give me the kick up the arris I thought it would be better if I keep a diary to keep track of my payments, xxxk ups and hopefully weightloss, also the fact that it is in the public arena will help shame me into keeping to my plan.

Here is a little info about me and my debts:

Income: £1223.70

Debts:

MBNA : £265.83 ( interest free until Feb 2010)
EasyJet : £227.85 (29.9 % APR)
Egg: £2229.58 (interest free until end of August 2010)
Virgin: £339.23 (34.29 % APR)
Next: £41.04 (29.0 % APR)
Barclay loan: £3843 (due to be paid by Oct 2011)
Lloyds Bank OD : £71.90 ( interest free)

Total Debt : £7018.43

Out of my income I pay for :

Childcare: £148
Grocerys : £300
Barclay loan payment: £192.83

So I have quite a large amount to chuck at my debts. I am fortunate that my husband pays for all household bills etc, we maintain very seperate finances, I would really like to get rid of my debt so I can start overpaying our mortgage!

Another thing I would also like to do is save about £4500 before Dec 2010 to pay for my hubbie to have a vas reversal so we can have another baby!! I have an old VW camper which I hope to sell in the summer, it will prob make over £4500 but we have been treated to a holiday in Spain in August by the in laws so will need spends for that.

I am dire with money, I think it goes back to my childhood when my mum would ask me to get to the mail before my dad and hide bills and final demands etc, however I have never got to that stage thank God and I have a very understanding hubbie who I can talk about anything too. I am useless at the grocery budget particularly, so this month I have joined the OS January challenge, I have said £300 which I will transfer to my shopping account on payday, also got to pay the £71.90 od off.

With the losing weight I am hoping with sticking to such a tight budget I will avoid the daily trips too the co-op and spending upto £10.00 a day on carp and also getting takeaways 3-4 times a week I will start to lose the lbs, I will also join the OS weightloss challenge I think.

Anyway sorry for the essay, if anyone has any suggestions I welcome them gratefully. I look forward to chatting to you all as I travel along the road to being debt free.

Thank you thelightfantastic and welcome to MSE, they are truely a wonderful helpful bunch here, I have been a long time lurker, especially on the DFW boards but never had the LBM and desire to actually get out of debt, the chance to have another baby is my motivation this time!!
Good luck with your journey too, do you have a diary?
