X-fered money from HSBC to Lloyds sent me overdrawn - now being charged !

I've got a regular account and a savings account wirth HSBC and am fully aware of bank charges and how they work.
Last week I transferred £500 from HSBC to Lloyds to my girlfriends account.
Now I though I was transferring it from my saving account which has £10k in it but I was ina a rush and transferred it from my regular account which only had £200 in it. Upon transferring it via the internet at no point did anything inform me that I was going overdrawn and the money left my account fine.
Now I know it's strictly my fault as I should have been in my savings account BUT surely there should be some logic on the HSBC banking that does not allow you to go over a £0.00 limit ? My argument was that the hole in the wall informs you that your going overdrawn (and will be charged) so why doesnt' internet banking ?
As I wasn't aware of this I then used my card x4 times over the next few days and I'm being charged £100 !!!
I have called HSBC alleged "customer" service and they pretty much said "tough luck were not refunding you its your own fault you should check your balance before you transferred it".
I'm supposed to be openeing a Premier Account with them in the New Year and put £25k into my saving but I am seriousley thinking of telling them to stick it where the sun doesn't shine as I'm sick of them robbing people blind.
Is it even worth me sending a letter in to complain or should I not even waste the money on a stamp ?

Sorry - but it sounds like you've got more chance of 'platting fog' than getting any money back. From the banks point of veiw it was not their mistake.I am an Honest Banker, giving honest advice to honest customers each day, we're all trying to make an honest living.:A0
