Finding a permanent/temporary job through Reed Recruitment

I've just realised that there is a Reed branch (Reed Specialist) in the area I live in. However, I already applying for jobs on the reed.co.uk website. I have an account with them already. the jobs I applied through there are jobs posted by other agencies, and not by themselves.
I am planning to find either temporary or permanent admin/office or IT work.
I am going to register with them 'physically'? Are they a good agency to find work?
When registering, do I just go in and hand in a CV? Or would there be a formal registering proceudre such as providing ID, fill in forms, provide reference details, software package and data entry tests etc...?
Do I need to book an appointment to register?

Simple answer yes - but be prepared for them to never offer you any work. If you do not hear from them within a week of registering with them you will probably never ever hear from them again. You have to keep pestering them unfortunately as with other agencies to state you are available for work.0 -
Some agencies I register do keep in touch in some way. However, others I registered don't seem to stay in touch, and need pestering.
Why does Reed don't offer people any work after registering?I'm sure if there are suitable vacancies, they will call up the candidates to see if they are interested.... If you don't hear from them within a week, that means there are no suitable vacancies at the moment?
Do I call the branch or just go in and say 'I would like to book an appointment to register'?0 -
Call the branch !! If you turn up on spec chances are they will tell you that you need an appointment anyway.0

The temps I work with (and myself) have never heard back from Reed once registered except to update our details every 3 months. They seem to be pretty poxy when it comes to finding work. Still, beggars cant be choosers when you're looking for work I guess.matched betting: £879.63

You never here back from them unless you apply for a job and they want you to come to interview. They will never say I found a job you can apply for.
They told me what they have in branch is no different to whats on the website.0 -
My last job was through Reed, & I've done some odd temp days as well with them. The key thing is being known I think - go & see them or ring them to remind them that you're there & you're keen.
I think you need to register with your local branch as well as online to get work. A lot of the stuff on their site is through other agencies and employers - not directly through Reed.0 -
Anyone tried Brook Street? Is it good? Or is it as bad as Reed as you guys put it?You never here back from them unless you apply for a job and they want you to come to interview. They will never say I found a job you can apply for.

I think I will still go register anyway. Once registered, I will call them to see if they have any vacancies. Alternatively, I could just look at their website daily. If there is a job, I will apply online. If they call, they will have my details (as I will then be registered already in the branch), and all they will do is discuss the job in more detail, arrange interview time with the client company, etc...
I hope I get a better experience than you guys.I will report back after registering.

Ok. I will call to make an appointment.
Is it a lot to do during registering? I hope the forms are not long like other agencies! What exactly are the tests like? Easy/hard?
How does the 'initial' registration interivew like? What do they ask?0
