Ebay don't speak the same language as normal people ;-) I think in this case they mean solicit to mean 'ask to' or 'encourage'.

The point is, they don't want buyers posting cash. I think it's fairly clear that they've made it against the rules to ask for it to be posted. If the item is not being collected, the cash would have to be posted, ergo, cash may not be requested.

I don't really care... I don't ask for cash payments. If people get suspended because they asked for cash, that's no concern of mine... but I do think it's a clue about ebay's stance on the matter.

but that is my point - i do not ASK for cash. i offer it. if buyers choose to pay that way & some do, then thanks very much - more money for me, less for poopal.

examples: i've had a buyer from the usa send us$80 by regular post. i did not INSIST they pay that way - they chose it. another from the uk sent £70 special delivery, again they chose it and again, thanks very much!!

If you're offering cash as a payment option, you're implying it's ok for them to post it to you. Ebay say it's not ok.

If my buyers WANT to pay me cash, by all means, I allow it, but I know there are people out there searching for the word 'cash' in auctions, and I don't need any trouble. I don't suggest it in messages either, because some slimeball would probably report me.

Thank you for the posts on charges removing money along the way. I think I must be with the wrong bank (Abbey) as I frequently lose out on international transfers.
