Open a joint account with your wife in any of the Banks that give you a good exchange rate for overseas withdrawals (ensure they give each of you a debit/ATM card to access the account). You can then deposit your money here and your wife can withdraw it there in CAD.
I personally bank with Citibank and have found their rates to be excellent during my trips to Eurozone countries when I've had to withdraw in EUR from my GBP account. It's always the grass that suffers, irrespective of whether the elephants are fighting or making love !!!0
