Hi everyone,
I gave up my job and moved abroad last year but I am now wanting to return to England!
I just dont know where to start with looking for a job. I am a secretary/PA. I have contacted all the usual recruitment agencies and told them that I am happy to travel over and register but they are all saying the same - there isn't much point at the moment, just keep checking our website.
Any advice you can offer would be great.
Thanks in advance.

Depending on how desperate you are for a job I guess broadening your horizons would help
For the minute don't hold out for secretarial type jobs, go for anything that you're offered
Maybe start with major supermarkets?
Once you've got a job that's atleast bringing in some money you can then concentrate of finding something that you really want to doFuture Mrs Gerard Butler

I'm a legal secretary with years of experience and I can tell you that jobs are very, very thin on the ground at the moment. I had to look for a new job after we moved house and there was literally nothing at all in the area we moved to. I registered with every single agency I could find and only one was able to get me a single interview as companies are just not hiring. I've found a new job which I am starting on Monday but it's about an hour's drive away and even then I was lucky to get it.
I think it's a bad time of year too as nobody is really recruiting this side of Christmas.0 -
Definitely wait until the new year. Even without a recession, few companies recruit at this time of year.0

Hi,
I would suggest that you either stay away abroad if you have a job there or you apply for a student visa in a bogus college or for a tourist visa here in the UK. You can then come here and apply for all sorts of benefits. I think you will have a better life than looking for a job.
But remember to fake a foreign accent and use the key words "asylum, refugee, socialist, you are bing racist, i will vote nu labour in two years time if you let me stay". You will then have a good life here in the UK.0 -

You won't be taken seriously or considered until you're in the area. The best thing you can do is prepare your CV and email it out to them all about 2 days before you move, then contact them the day you arrive to follow up and make appointments to go in and register/do the agency interview.0
