ECAR insurance: cancelled policy?

Im panicing big time here.
Around a month ago, i Renewed my car insurance, i opted to go this time with Ecar insurance.
I paid for 1 year in full (£360 3rd party), and i had 1 year no claims.
anyhoo, i got an Email through aweek or so later saying i needed to Email off a copy of my counterpart and photo id driving licences, so i did, they Emailed back shortly after saying my documents were received and my policy was now confirmed, they also attatched all policy files to the Email and said i would receive the paper version soon.
This morning im awoken by the Postman with a recorded delivery letter from Ecar insurance stating that "further to previous correspondence" if they dont receive and get validated by 1/12/09 12:15pm (tommorrow) proof of my no caims status, that my poicy will be cancelled, and a refund given minus a charge of £75 and minus a charge for the time i have had the policy with them (a month).
And that they will be forcd to
I was stunned!!!
I had to take the morning off work, call NIG (my old insurer) and ask for a copy of the letter they wanted sharpish, luckily they faxed it over, i photograhed it and emailed it in at 10am this morning, and i've still heard nothing back other than an automated confirmation telling me im in a que:rolleyes:.
Im also informed that i will lose my no claims and that as they will have withdrawn my insurance, other insurers will increase my premiums or even refuse to insure me!!!!
Tomorrow lunchtime i need to go pick up my parents from the airport who are coming to visit me for the first time in my new home, and my girlfriend has been away on buisness and im going to pick her up at 9pm tommorrow night (the airport is 40 miles away).
looking up this companies history it seems nearly everyone talking about them has had a similar problem.
you can only communicate by either Email, or their £1 per minute premium line which according to reviews you will spend well over 2 hours on hold (costing £120
)
I NEED insurance for tomorrow, what can i do?
If i buy temporary insurance will it start the minute i buy it?
Im really stuck, im so worried about this now.
Any advice, Please?

You can actually send letters to eCar. However if you do at least use Recorded delivery to prevent them "losing" them.
And the answer to your other question is yes.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

OH WELL, there goes another £350 i suppose, im really sick of it all, just getting more and more in debt every day.:o0 -
Im going to have to buy temporary insurance now, as still no response.
This whole incident is going to almost double my premiums i bet.
Can i preserve my No claims in this situation?
I mean i have a no claims letter with NIG, then i avent claimed for the month i was with Ecar, and if i buy a months temporary cover, will that count as another months no caims, but then im imagining a nighmare geting sny sort of proof out of Ecar.
I will never touch this company again.:mad:0 -
Why do you feel you have no insurance? (According to your posts you have supplied them with what they want within the timescale).
In answer to your NCD question, you cannot use just odd months with different insurers for NCD purposes. You only get full years NCD added after completing a full year's insurance cover under an annual policy.0 -

They have sent me a auto confirmation saying they received it, but as yet no verification of its contents.....and the clock is ticking 2 hours to go....and ticking...
Going by what other have said on the internet with this company, it seems tis exact thing has happenned to others, and they ended up driving uninsured for days before Ecar told them their policy was cancelled.
As a side note, it temporary 1 month insurance came in at £160!!!, im screwed here, unless by some miracle they get back to me before Noon.0 -
Why not go on to the Askmid website to see if the car is insured or not?0

Make sure Ecar pay for the cost of your call, if not a freephone number.
Make a complaint to the FSA and FOS about this. The FOS will consider this a complaint as this level of service has cost you money. You would have to complain to Ecar first stating that you want to go to the FOS and therefore are asking for a final response. As Ecar will be charged £450 by the FOS irrespective of whether they will uphold you complaint, I would expect Ecar to pay you compensation.
I would also personally complain to the FSA, detailing the problems you have had. The FSA may perhaps decide to investigate, if they have had other complaints of this nature. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0
