If you have a passport you can apply for the Barclays CAsh Card account in branch (it comes with a Visa debit card). One form of ID is all they need.

Not for the Cash Card account you don't. One is enough.

Are you on the electoral roll? Some account like the Halifax Easycash will verify you electronically without the need for you to provide any ID.

    'Cash Card Accounts
To open an account we need confirmation of who you are and where you live. We need two original documents (not photocopies) from the lists below.'

That's for the cash card only account.

And don't think I am on electoral roll, least not at my new place.

Many people on this forum have said they only need one form of ID for the Cash Card account. You may have to go into a branch and see what happens.

Cifpower is right, one piece of ID is needed for the Barclays Cash Card Account.

Ignore what the website says. I've just checked the Barclays brochure, which I still have, and it says one piece of ID is needed only. Only a UK passport kind be used on it's own though. If you don't have a UK passport, it must be two things just like what the website says. The account will be opened immediately with account details, and the PIN and card will arrive in 2-3 working days. Very efficient.

I wouldn't bother with the HBOS Easycash Account, it's not as good as the Barclays one.

    Hi

You may be able to use your medical card for ID as long as you've registered with a gp at your new address. If you've not registered, its quite simple to do and then you are sent a new medical card at your current address
