At this point in time surely it is just a van? On the phone you could say it was an ex-ambulance but it is not going to be an ambulance going forward as in you are not an emergency vehicle, you are not carrying patients, you are not conducting medical procedures on board etc.All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Have a look in the SBMCC forums, self build motor caravan club.
There are policies from Adrian Flux and specialised companies for this need.
They insure it and give you 6 months usually to convert it.
Have you done the conversion yet? There are criteria (again on the SBMCC) that it will have to meet to be a camper.
Windows, fixed cooker, dining area with table (can be removed), bed and a few others.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep

Once the conversion is completed you will have to get the V5C changed from Ambulance to Motor Caravan. Photos may be rquired by DVLA to prove that the vehicle has been converted. Certain fittings are required in order to qualify as a Motor Caravan eg. a fixed seat/bed, hob for cooking, a table either fixed or one than can be stored away. Possibly sink and/or fridge. There is a list available from the DVLA which may differ slightly from the one fom the SBMMC.0

I bought an ambulance transporter and had huge trouble trying to get normal insurance. This was, in part, due to the number of seats in it.
I sold the seats (which more than paid for the van)!
I thought that I was going to have to sell it before I had even driven it, as I was having trouble with insurance companies - in the end, I tried the NFU - they were great!0
