Right - sorry to start a new thread but i'm hoping i might get more responses this way...
ok cab fares (with lots of luggage) for Victoria coach station to Bethnall Green are going to be very expensive, is there any other method i can use, such as finding a man with a van or some other time of removal company instead of a cab?
Thanks very much if you can help.

How much stuff do you have ? You can get a hell of a lot in a Black Cab. Victoria to Bethnal Green isn't that far, You can always come to a deal with the driver before you get in the cab, say £20 all in . That way you don;t have to watch the metre. My brother in law is a Black Cab driver and it's not unusual for people to ask for a deal. Even if the first driver wont make a deal or you don't like the price just ask the next driver.

I got given a flyer on Oxford Street today for streetcar - the pay as you go car. the flyer promises that:
"Streetcar is the next best thing to owning a car, but without the costs and hassle. One of our golfs is parked within easy walking distance from here. Book it online or by phone and its your for however long you want. It costs just £4.95 per hour..."
Sounds really good - sure there must be a catch but its worth looking at https://www.streetcar.co.uk
Hope you get there okProud to be dealing with my debts!0 -
thanks for your replies!
seriously would a black cab from victoria to bethnall green usually only be £20?, if so that would be great and very reasonable, just someone on my other thread said it would be very costly so i called a few places and one place quoted me £60!!
I will have two large suitcases and two rucksack size bags...if that will be acceptable to a black cab driver i'll be sorted! I have used cabs in the past with luggagge locally where the cab drivers have said i would have use a bigger than normal cab so i assummed black cab drivers in london would also have a limit on luggage and also charge extra for transporting luggagge...0 -

that should be fine...I've been coming back from airport in a cab with 3 people, 3 pretty big suitcases and 3 hand-luggage bags...you should easily be able to fit it in.One thing...that sets pulses racing...that gets hearts pounding...for which there is no substitute...only YOU can provide...blood.

not much use as she doesn't drive (see other thread) - although it does seem like a good idea.0 -
incidentally if you had less luggage the no 8 bus goes from victoria striaght through bethnal green for 1.50:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I took that exact journey two years ago in a black cab and it ended up costing about £40!0

As I have said come to a deal with the driver. That way you don't have to worry about the meter or traffic conditions.

How much would it cost to leave half of it in a locker at the station?
You might be better off leaving half of it there, getting a all day bus pass and making 2 trips. Time consuming but might end up saving you quite a bit.2007 comping challenge - Won £25 / need £1040
