    Oh glad this will help people. I was in similar position with this set

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/LEGO%C2%AE-Spongebob-3830-Bikini-Express/dp/B000VS4FSO/ref=pd_sim_k_h_b_cs_3

    and finally took the plunge at £35 couple of weeks ago. Couldn't find it for love nor money after looking on the Friday night on Lego shop (£18 & in stock) then trying to order on Sat.... guess what - all out of stock everywhere / or ridiculous prices nearer £50.Thankfully at that point had managed to get the OP set from John Lewis' but know what a nightmare it is searching for the last one to complete the set.

    Have to say this has been my first personal experience of wanting something everyone else seemed to want to, it going out of stock in most places and those that had it (sellers on amazonin particular) inflating their prices hugely. Even managed to order from a website based in Britain only to get email saying now OOS then find they are selling same item on AMazon at highly inflated price. Wont be using that shop again. Unbelieveable.
    If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:

    "only" :rotfl:

    While £90 seems incorrect for this particular set (highest I found was £68) I think the OP was just illustrating that these are selling at an increased price on eBay. If you look at the auctions the ones that are ending in the £40-£50 region are mostly shipping from the USA and have large delivery charges of between £10 and £20 pushing the price up to a similar level in total. Thing is if stock levels don't improve then the USA ones will become a less enticing prospect because people will be worried about not getting it in time for Christmas, pushing the prices for UK based items up.

    2 years ago the Wii, last year Professor Layton... is this the year of Lego Spongebob?

    EDIT: Now OOS at Amazon... £74 from Amazon Marketplace seller!
