Possible bogus recruitment agency?

I applied for a job through reed.co.uk . The recruiter is C Ryde, which is the recruitment agency dealing with that particular vacancy. After submitting my CV through reed, it has said my CV has been sent to the recruiter. The recruiter e-mail is displayed on the Reed website.

The e-mail address of the recruiter has an ending of a different company name (@dsl.pipex.com), than the recruiter company name ( @cryde.co.uk). I googled the recruitment agency on google, and nothing comes up.

Since there's no webstie for the recruitment agency, does this mean it's a bogus agency?

There are a few people who applied for that vacancy though.

  • Sounds like a private individual to me. I cannot seem to find that the domain cryde.co.uk is registered to anyone - is it definitely referred to in the job offer you saw on reed.co.uk ?

No It means it is a very small diddy agency. Countless of them about.

All they need to do is claim they introduced you and then they get 15% or there about often.

Yes, I'm definately sure that I need to contact C Ryde (the recruiter) if I have an queries, chasing up for any updates, etc... as after I submit the job, it says so.

That wasn't the question asked. The question was is the domain "cryde.co.uk" mentioned anywhere. Just because a business is called something doesn't automatically mean they own that domain. Not saying it couldn't be dodgy but it could just as easily be a small recruitment agency using their isp's e-mail domain which they get when they sign up for business/personal broadband.

No, that domain isn't mentioned anywhere.

I have applied for a number of jobs using Reed, with well-known agencies.
Even when my CV very closely matched the job ad, and they were not likely to get many people with the same set of skills, never heard anything (which is unusual and led me to think they have phoney ads...).

I've even found actual false jobs advertised (recognised an old ad, called the organisation and they had filled it several months earlier....).

Don't trust job ads on reeds.co.uk!
