Interview questions - marketing and admin officer

Mornin' all. A friend of mine has an interview for a marketing and admin officer next week. She has to do a 20 min computer test and then a proper interview. Has anyone any idea of the sorts of questions she might be asked? They will be the standard ones that all interviewees get asked, not relating to her application specifically. I think she's particularly concerned about the hypothetical situation type of question, ...what would you do if?... sort of thing. Also what might the test consist of? They asked for proficiency with MS Office so maybe its to type a report? Set up a database? Not sure.
Thanks - I'm a bit out of the loop with job applications now so not really much help to her.

hi downshifter,
Sounds from the title that this is an admin support role for an existing marketing team, ensuring they have a safe pair of hands to get things done while the creatives get on with the ideas.
First thing is for your friend to analyse the job spec and person spec to work out what they will be looking for and examples she could use for each element.
I would expect the test to focus on her ability to write coherently and without grammatical errors, perhaps as you say a report on a product spec, maybe including some analysis of market intelligence to show abilty with interpreting stats and conveying complex information. But it's only 20 minutes so can't be too involved.
Interview questions are likely to focus on admin skills as much as marketing, eg asking your friend to describe a time at work when she had to produce something under pressure, dealt with a difficult client, used her skills to persuade a manager/colleague to accept their idea, introduced a change etc.
Obviously there will be marketing and sector specific stuff too.
Good luck to her!"Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm" (Sir Winston Churchill)0 -
Same as any interview - stay calm, be honest and think before you speak. Hope it goes well for your friend!0

Not sure how applicable this will be for your friend's role, but if I need to know the 'what ifs...?' of particular employment sectors, I always look here first (I've filtered it down to marketing-specific careers):
http://www.kent.ac.uk/careers/sitesadv.htm£1 / 50p 2011 holiday flight + hotel expenses = £98.50/£600
HSBC 8% 12mth regular savings = £80 out of a maximum remaining allowance of £2500
"3 months' salary" reserve = £00 / £3600 :eek:0
