Cancelling Sky TV during initial 12 month contract period. Help?!

To sum up a long story a friends of ours is moving in with us for the near future. We already have the full sky TV package.
She has the full sky TV package at her place and is still in her initial 12 month contract. Obviously she no longer needs it but has been told by them that for the first 12 months she cannot downgrade or cancel her contract.
Is there anything she can do? Otherwise she is going to be paying over £60 a month for something she physically cannot use??

I'm afraid a contract is a two way thing. As Sky hasnt broken the contract then your friend has no legal reason to not fulfill her side of it i.e subscribe for 12 months. All she can do is drop it to the minimum package (she should be able to its not usually a requirement to stay on same package during the minimum term) and ask how much to buy herself out of it.0

Tell Sky you are going away for 6 to 8 weeks and you want the basic channels until you come back and then cancel. To sum up a long story a friends of ours is moving in with us for the near future. We already have the full sky TV package.

Can't you cancel your sub and then use hers at your house instead?0
