hi peeps this is a rant of a kind,do you older posters remember my first post in april about col just that evening telling me about the debt he had tried to hide from me.if you remember i was upset cos we had argued an he had gone up to his garage to do his weights.he is so fit strong always has been.went to court all over less worry, back to a sort of normal.then noticed col not doing his weights an excercising, thought i wont mention it,maybe he just wants a rest...now found out he cant do weights cos of a pain in his stomach,he went for some tests an has been diagnosed with irritable bowel disease, the doc asked him if he had had any recent stress!!!!gave him tablets an to have more tests..my meaning is if col can fall under the spell of stress, anyone can.i cant spell this out enough, its just not worth the stress, wish we had of done it sooner rather than hanging on.life really is too short so go for it,try not to get stressed an look forward to a better life. penny x

Do you mean irritable bowel syndrome? If so it is quite common and can be kept under control with the right diet. Stress is a big factor in its flare ups.

Wheat tends to affect people with IBS but no 2 suffers are the same which is why sometimes it isn't diagnosed. An elimination diet is what he needs to do so he can identify the foods that trigger it off causing a flare up. Its a pain but be thankful that it can easily be controlled with the right food. Not to make light of it but there are many other worse things that can be caused by stress.

stress manifests itself in a million ways.......and being healthy and fit has no bearing whatsoever on one's ability to resist stressful moments.
From my viewpoint....I have had two jobs [some would say 'career'..I wouldn't]....the first, for 25 years...involved a lot of stress..[for years it had the highest rate of heart problems, below fishermen]....but...the stress was very much 'negative' stress.
My current employment...for the past 12 years, also involves high degrees of stress...but in this case, the stress is 'positive' stress.
there is a huge difference.
[negative stress jobs , in my case, manifest themselves in a dread getting up in the morning to go to work.
positive stress means, I actually look forward to going to work....and that is despite our Government's best efforts]
debts inevitably lead to negative stress........
which is why, the fundamental advice I've read [and re-iterated] on this forum has been....if in debt, talk about it, see someone like a debt counciloor, talk to the debt charities...or..post on this forum!
I have found, the best way to alleviate the negative stress of debt is not to stick one's head in the sand, but to be open about it..and to take positive steps to start sorting it.....one way or the other.
this is why I abhor the DCA's......and their tactics.....because their sole aim is to drag people back into the depths of negative stress, where they can be easily manipulated.
Overcome the shame, fear, sense of failure that debt induces...it really is but a shadow, a myth.
since BR..or at least, the year beforehand, when I started my campaign of dealing with my debts....I have never been healthier. No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
Hi moneypenny,
Yes as a fellow suffer of extreme IBS I can only sympathise. It was nothing to do with the diet for me and altho the docs tried to eliminate certain foods, they ended up putting it down to pure stress and put me on a vigurous exersize program. This was tricky as I have slipped discs in back but it definately cured the problem.
I can now tell the difference straight away - if I go even a day without at least 30 mins walking or some form of excersize the ibs comes back to bite me. Excersize definately keeps the stress at distance too. I also agree with you and wished that me and oh had done all this br years ago. We knew that our debts were never going to get better and it took us years to face up to it but I am so glad we did

Stress is a pig and can really drag you down. Exercise helps with all kinds of stress, in particular when it causes depression - crazy thing of course when you're very low, getting the oomph to actually do anything is the hardest:rolleyes: BUT if you can force yourself out, walking will really helpHi moneypenny,
