Beware of AQuote Online

If you are arranging insurance online, beware of AQuote who are listed on this site. They are very helpful when taking out insurance but as soon as you have a problem they don't want to know. They don't show their terms and conditions on the site, their paperwork is a mess and I am having to take them to the Small Claims Court for money they owe me.

I would be interested to hear from anyone else who has experience of AQuote, good or bad.

  • I recieved a renewal letter from Aquote which stated that if I did not contact them they would automaticaly renew it. As my bike was Sorn and did not have an mot and I am too old now for a bike. I contacted them by phone and informed them my intention to sell and would not be renewing it. If I remember right the insurance was due for renewal on yhe 15th April 2009. About a month later I recieved a letter asking why I had not paid my first premium. I contacted the company who said I had not contacted them and demanded £20 cancelation fee. I contacted them and said as I had cancelled surely it was there fault and not mine and I should not be penilised for there mistake. I was then talked to in not a very nice manner and subsequently the conversation ended.I later recieved a letter asking for £20
I did not recieve any thing further until I recievd a letter from CREDIT RESOURCE SOLUTIONS (remember this name they are not very nice people) demanding £70 on behalf of Aquote they would appear to have bumped it up to cover their costs. This is is rising and the last letter has stated that a further £25 costs will be added . I have tried to speak to them on the phone but I was talked over by in my opinion a very bad mannered and nasty person. I tried several calls but was talked to in a very similar manner. I deal with pulic every day one to one and if I talked to them in that manner I would not have a job.
Sorry to rabbit on but I tried writting to them several times and recieved a letter saying on behalf of AQUOTE that if I could prove I sold the bike before or on the 20th April 2009 they would leave it at that. This I cant as the bike was sold on or about 24th April 2009 this I can prove. But surely they fact I didnt want to renew and they did renew is wrong. My wife is going nuts as it was here that told me to phone after recieving the original renwal letter .
What should I do just pay and in future ask everything to be put in writing and jot it up to the wee man in the street getting bumped again from the big company.Any ideas please

    Any ideas please

Yes, don't resurrect threads that are four years old, and don't cross post this is the third thread you have posted the same post in.

in future ask everything to be put in writing
Get confirmation in writing (or email).
As a minimum get name or reference and time and date of person you spoke to. If they are called John or Bob then get a surname as some companies have 374 John's.
If in doubt send your letter by recorded delivery (75p) to correct address and you can prove it's been received (keep receipt).
I am proactive in this way and I rarely have problems.
If I do have problems then I usually have the proof I need.
  • [I am am sorry as you will notice I am very knew at this and had little or no idea how to post and did not intend to resurrect and old post. Since you appear to know what you are doing where should I post this as I am desperate for info on what to do. Sorry to come across rather blunt I did not mean to upset you, there is nothing wrong with your post but rather than going back several years it is better to open a new thread.

By posting the same thing in different threads you get people replying and giving advise only to find someone else has posted the same thing elsewhere which clutters the forums up with repeated answers.
  • thanks i will post a new thread i hope here goes
