Could Virgin Media be harming my credit score?

I've just had look at this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1033817 and noticed that Virgin Media only search Equifax and, more importantly (for this thread anyway) only report to Equifax.

Now, I have landline phone, TV and broadband via Virgin Media.

If I fill out a credit application, one of the standard questions relates to having a home phone and what it's number is. If the company I'm making the credit application to only searches Experian (or on the odd occasion, Call Credit) they won't see any record related to a home phone service. Does this go against the lenders internal scoring system as they can't prove that I have a home phone service.

To that end, should Virgin Media be reporting to all three CRAs?

Just a thought?!?

It has more to do with a database provided by BT against which telephone numbers are checked to verify you are the person paying the line rental. It is called BT OSIS. I have found when I am with BT I get electronically verified and when I am with someone else I have to provide physical proof of ID.

I've held many different accounts with BT over the years and none of them have ever appeared on my credit file with any agency.

Virgin Media only recently started reporting at all, NTL:Telewest never did IME.

    No panic! :o

  • Thanks all.

Didn't think it would be an issue, more of an observation.
