CRB Check

  • If you want to know what your record will say log on to the web site for the police force that gave you the caution. You should be able to find a form that allows you to ask for what information that is held on you - I think you have to pay £10.

My BF's ex did this as he wanted to train as a social worker but had a period in his life (when he was 17-20) when, basically, he was a bit of plonker and got several cautions and one conviction for drunk and disorderly. When he got his record back it was completely clear. Apparently at the time he got his conviction (about 25 years ago) the law said that criminal records would be kept for only 6 years so his conviction was removed from the records.

Saying that, he was honest with the uni because he felt he should give an honest account of who he was and his life experiences because they were the things that made him who he was. He did get on the course but didn't finish - once a plonker always a plonker!
Don't judge people on they way they look, the way they speak or what they're called because they can't help that.

Only judge people on what they say and what they do.
  • There are 3 types of CRB forms:
    Basic
    Standard
    Enhanced.

Basic shows convictions that are unspent.

Standard shows convictions unspent and spent.

Enhanced shows everything! Convictions, cautions and any information that the government has put on your file.

If it was a basic CRB then it will not show up.

If you google Scotland Disclosure, it will tell you all about this.

    Hope this helps.
