self-employed & car

I'm self employed and own a big 4lt Jeep worth about £3000, I need this vehicle because I offer a powerwashing service and tow a 300gl water bowser, without the Jeep I would be unable to work, I can't sell it and get something cheaper as I need this size vehicle to pull the trailer and a lot of my work is on site were I need a 4 wheel drive.

will it be considered to be a 'tool of my trade'? because like I said if I was made to sell it I would be immediately unable to work.

thanks

It could be considered a tool of trade or exempt for employment, it is at the OR's discresion, it would help if the work it provided left enough surplus for an IPA

Hard to say 100% but I would say you should be fine, as you say it is needed for your business so it should be classed as a tool of the trade.

    Hi Lattelover,

As others have said, you may well be OK, but if the worst happens you could look at a used Shogun/Pajero. Ebay usually have some good examples at less than £2,000 and they should be able manage the job of pulling the bowser and normally have a choice of 2WD, high ratio 4WD, low ratio 4WD and diff lock. :)
